Q: Can I have my own company website like: www.mycompany.com ?
A: Sure, part of our hosting services allows all of our customers to have their own private Internet Domain Name.



Q: What exactly is an Internet Domain Name and how does it work ?
A: The Internet, like all computer systems, only knows numbers. Websites are actually stored on our computer systems as HTML formatted text documents. The catch is how can people find "your" web pages. If you had to give people a number like 208.236.182.100, it's unlikely they would remember that very long so we use name, or Domain Names to be precise. As name can only refer to one website can have to register the names to make sure they are unique and then inform our Domain Name Servers were your information is. So when you type something like www.mydomainname.com, your computer asks our Domain Names Servers for it's address, much like you would ask the telephone operator for someones phone number. Our Domain Name servers return the actual address like 208.236.182.100, which your computer likes and can then find and retrieve your information.



Q:Can you help us create our company's website ?
A: We sure can! Part of the services that Metropage offers is complete website design and maintenance, in addition to hosting your site. Metropage is available to design from scratch or even re-design an existing website. We can also offer you period maintenance to help keep your site fresh and up-to-date.



Q: Can I make my own webpage? If so what software can I use ?
A: Our Servers can support a websites developed in a wide variety of software packages. Some of the more common ones are
Netscape Navigator Composer, Microsoft Frontpage, Adobe PageMill, and NetObjects Fusion. Please note that although our technical staff is widely versed in most of the programs please do not rely on us for the program support. We try to hire people who are well versed in the computer field, but with so new software packages and updates to existing ones we do not know it all. At least yet!



Q: Do you offer a class on how to make a web site ?
A: Yes we do. We offer in house training sessions in classroom format or on a one-to-one basis. This way you can learn everything right on your own computer that you will use at work, or at least not have to spend late night hours at some computer lab.



Q: What kind of an e-mail account do I get ?
A: Your Standard E-Mail account will be a POP3 account. Based on your need and the level of service your are subscribing to we can offer IMAP4 access in addition to Web based access to your e-mail accounts.



Q: Can I use my own domain name for email ?
A: All of our business customers use their own Domain Names. This allows you the flexibility of assigning whatever account names you want without have to worry about someone already using it. You can also have aliases that forward mail to you such as info@mydomain.com.



Q: How many e-mail accounts can I have ?
A: This is strictly dependent upon the level of service that you subscribe to. We are able to offer you anywhere from a single e-mail account to a dedicated e-mail server for your company capable of handling 10,000+ accounts.



Q: How do I sign up for an account?
A: Please call us at 516-576-3300, and ask for sales. We will discuss all the available account options with you and set up the best one. We will also research available domain names and register you at that time. We are available to meet with you to discuss any specific needs or concerns that you may have. Please feel free to arrange for a meeting at our offices our your own.



Q: How do I pay for my account ?
A: Your account will be billed to you on a recurring basis. Accounts can be paid by company check or money order via mail. If you wish to make payment directly at our office, we are able to accept credit cards (American Express, Master Card, Visa and Discover) and cash payments (make sure you get a cash receipt), in addition to checks and money orders. In the near future we hope to institute on-line secure payments via credit card and automatic recurring billing to credit cards and checking accounts for those interested.
